We are so proud and excited to welcome you to Imaginary Island, a coda inspired by balance_rpg! It's our hope that you will all enjoy this mystery-exploration-beach episode along with us. In preparation for our first IC log, why not familiarize yourself with the setting — or at least as much of the setting as there is to see so far? There's a great deal more on the horizon, naturally!




This post, though, is mostly for mingling, chatting, plotting, and getting hype! As each character's status on entry is fairly customizable per player tastes, this is a great time to let others know the nuts and bolts of your character's status, as well as any short- or long-term plans you have for them. Plans & Goals: Rose's memories are going to be coming back in a very weird way, sort of alternating new and very old memories, so she's going to be having a lot of Feelings about that that she will try not to tell people about. Aside from that, she wants to grow some apple trees from some seeds she will be finding from her old inventory, generally having fun, and solving whatever issues arise!

Like, who wants a love potion? By the time the skelebros recognize and start remembering each other, I'm hoping Papyrus will have some good cr going, gotten into some trouble, and be running around making amends for the problems he's added to.

I'm thinking the first thing she'll get is that she's from a video game because I think it'll be fun to see what it might have been like if I'd apped her from one of the endings instead of Act 1. ☆⌒(≧▽​° ) But I'll kind of just be winging it besides that!

Housing: She's got Solanum cabana 602 with Clear Rivers and Willard H. Wright! She may Bardic Inspiration her way into housing that isn't a cabana at some point but we'll see!

Looking for: "Everything" is very unhelpful but truly everything!! I'm just really amped to play with folks again! With the memloss, she will be temporarily backpedaling on some of her development and returning to her default coping mechanism of smiling through everything, so encounters with people who might remember more about her than she does will be interesting. But mainly I just want her to make and re-make friends!!
Offering: Sayori is extremely friendly and adventurous, so she's easy to just throw at people and make stuff happen, especially silly stuff! She's really caring and helpful by nature too, so if someone needs a friend, she'll be there with bells on even if she doesn't know them very well. Plus, she's pretty patient even with...difficult personalities, so if you have a grumpy who needs a friendly, she's a pretty good candidate!

Also, her inventory included way too many of these posters, and now they are scattered literally all over the archipelago. I give blanket permission for anyone to find one anywhere they want, if it gives you a giggle!!
Plans & Goals: My big Arc Plan for her is basically finishing up what I started in Balance, with her coming to terms with the fictional nature of her world and her existence and accepting that it does not make her less than the other Reclaimers! I think exploring the glitches on the island and rediscovering her technomancer abilities will both be especially interesting in building up to this. Being able to use her technomancy for good will sort of help her to reclaim the power that hurt her and her friends in their canon and that's pretty darn neat! But she is going to be pretty freaked out by stuff that reminds her of the game at first.

As far as smaller specific plans: THE LITERATURE CLUB. BY GOD WE WILL MAKE A LITERATURE CLUB HAPPEN THIS TIME. Her daily journals and the scrapbook that holds all the poems from her friends are somewhere on the island, and I am VERY excited for memlossed Sayori to find those and see all that emotional writing. (✿◡‿◡) Plus, some of her close CR have loved ones showing up and I am pumped to see how those meetings play out! And eventually she will find some of the Sayori memorabilia on the island (she became a celebrity in Lyrabar, for context) and be EXTREMELY CONFUSED so that will be fun.

And of course generally I am just very excited to rediscover old CR, build new CR, and develop CR that I didn't get to thread with as much in Balance! I am ready for friendship

Offering: A demon who has forgotten that he learned empathy, but also that he's supposed to be evil, so it kinda evens out? He'll be more callous than people are used to, he'll also attach to new friends quite easily and tend to follow their lead in respect to how he ought to behave.
Plans & Goals: I don't have any real strong plans! His memloss arc is gonna conclude once he and Eleanor get to have a talk or two about their reversed roles, so I don't think it ought to take all that long. Until then, he'll just hang around maybe being sort of a douche, and then later on worrying if he was/is a bad person actually. Once that's resolved, Michael has already settled into a decent amount of confidence in himself and his ability to help out. I think the presence of the aforementioned squid NPC might force him to face up to some uncomfortable feelings he's been repressing? Unclear!

Looking for: Wash legit needs other Responsible Adults to talk to/commiserate with/lean on. He won't admit it, but he does. That said, he also has a habit of adopting the local kids and teenagers, so if anyone needs a Soldier Dad, he is there. I'm honestly up for anything.

Offering: Wash likes to see himself as a responsible adult; in some ways he is, but in other ways he is 100% Fake It Til You Make It. That said, he is a fairly competent Team Dad and an extremely competent soldier, which leads to being Very Overprotective of the people he cares about.

He's also deeply traumatized (but doing much better) and a suspicious, paranoid person with some pretty deeply ingrained self-esteem issues that express themselves through putting others' lives above his own. Looking for: Anyone and everyone! I love all kinds of CR with Venus, and this is going to be a GREAT place for her to sort of... relive her early life in a way that doesn't suck as much?? She's an enormous dork so it shouldn't be hard to get along with her.

That said, one thing I'm NOT looking for is people to "redeem" her or convince her that she's actually good. People are free to try! But for Venus, being the devil and being "bad" is something incredibly precious to her; people ignoring that are, even when well-intentioned, erasing a part of her to do it. (This is because her canon is a giant metaphor for growing up queer in religious America WHOOPS)

Offering: Venus is a sweet, well-meaning trans gal who's never been much good at social stuff, non-social stuff, or really anything that isn't tinkering with radios. She's also the devil, because if you yell at a girl that she's evil and disgusting enough she'll take the opportunity when it comes. Whoops. She can be a bit of a jerk sometimes, but almost entirely because she's just bad at people things. She's also been overcorrecting her sheltered life from back home for a while now - meaning if you need someone to do something stupid with, she's your girl!
Plans & Goals: Honestly, with all the IRL problems I ended up having while Balance was running, I felt like I really dropped the ball. This is a second chance to take part in a real, evolving story, and I'd love for Venus to be able to actually help out and do things that mean something to people! She can also still turn people into devils in a symbolic gesture of self-acceptance, so if you're looking for a long-term goal of radical acceptance that ends in ~SELF-AFFIRMING BODY HORROR~, she is absolutely your gal.

I'm going !! and "oh no" reading that Looking For bit because like, it's Papyrus "offer an unconditional hug and a scolding to a mass murderer" Undertale. He's more than willing to occasionally nag people about living their lives better, whether it's pushing a friend to confess her feelings, pushing a brother to stop eating garbage and clean up, or pushing a human to stop doing bad things.... So I could see their interactions falling afoul of the 'redeem' and 'actually good' pitfalls you mention, at least for a while.
