"Move it or lose it! The 'it' being your existences, I think!"

Let's get up to speed.

It's been an uneventful few weeks on the island of Baisla--maybe suspiciously so. You've had some time to gather your bearings. You've settled into your cabanas, gotten used to whoever you're sharing them with, collected some of your personal effects (which were bizarrely scattered to the wind.) The consistent 5 PM downpours are likely routine by now. You've had the chance to get the lay of the mainland and get a feel for the locals and some of their customs-- they sure like to dance, huh? Plus, they've got a lot of cool technology, though it isn't the sleek science fiction dream that is the Moon Base. And hopefully you've all made peace with the Fantasy Costco vending machine that's been harassing you to drink what some of you may now recognize as the ichor of the Voidfish.

That's right-- some of you have gotten your memories back too, though to varying degrees. Those of you who have will recognize that this doesn't seem to be an ordinary mission situation. There's no briefing whatsoever or contact with the outside world, no sign of Lucretia, and a lot more questions than answers. Good news, though! Despite that, it seems you're not alone on your journey. Everyone's favorite boy detective, Angus McDonald is here to help you out! The Animalians are all friendly, and there doesn't seem to be much sign of danger... is there?

What to do, Reclaimers?

Points of Interest.

It seems like every time you look, there's more to do and explore! And, well, with middling memories and no stated mission or hints on the location of the relic or Lucretia or much of anything, really, how are you going to spend your time?

Why not check out the sights?

Gilded Wall:
The most obvious(ly dangerous) thing to check out is the Gilded Wall, something all Animalians will try to warn you against going past! If given the chance, they will frantically insist that you turn back, and tell you tales of the evil lurking behind it... But it's such a grand, lovely structure. Surely whatever is behind it can't be that bad, right?

Well. Enter at your own risk.

Strange Ruins:
Angus's primary haunt right now, though they're so big and expansive the poor little guy can't explore and catalogue fast enough! Maybe you can help him out, though? There's certainly a lot to find around here -- there seem to be murals adorning every inch of these ruins, even if they're not necessarily easy to decipher. One could spend weeks studying these alone…. It could be a good way to pass the time, if nothing else. Or refresh your memory on your path actions--or learn some new ones! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though he knows what the relic you're looking for is, either...

Coliseum:
Anyone looking to hone their physical skills, get some rewards, and do some good ol' fashioned brawling will find some worthy adversaries in the Coliseum! There are many opponents you can challenge, ranging from the island's most skilled fighters to refined magitech beasts-- and they are certainly formidable enough opponents for even Reclaimers to take on! You can even fight other Reclaimers here if you both sign up. All in good fun, of course.

K. V. Labs:
If you're having trouble comprehending those big magitech beasts or perhaps have a few questions about other forms of magitech, you might like to visit the island's lead technomancer, K.V.! At their labs just past the Coliseum, K.V. can answer any questions you might have about the magical beasts the Animalians have created or about their advanced technomancy. You might even get a chance to assist with repairs or take a closer look at the magitech beasts! Provided you can keep their attention, of course...

Deep Foggy Forest:
For those that are feeling particularly adventurous and unconcerned with danger -- or simply want to hunt their own meat, they can venture into the deeper, darker parts of the Foggy Forest. There are plenty of strange creatures lurking about -- animals who don't resemble the Animalians, monsters who don't look quite right, and everything in between. There's an eerie atmosphere that grows stranger and almost darker the deeper you venture... but you're Reclaimers, right? You've faced worse. Be careful, though; according to the Animalians, dangerous creatures are afoot. In particular, they warn that some of the evil trapped behind the wall had escaped long ago, and now lurks deep in the heart of the forest...

The locals have also been willing to fill you in on some of the smaller islands that make up the archipelago, which you're welcome to visit if you can find a way to get to them. Though some of them are more appealing than others.

On the other hand... If you'd like a break from exploring, there's plenty to do around the Boardwalk and plenty of Animalians who’d love a pair of extra hands to help with whatever errands they've got to dump on you! Most notably, if you're looking to get your boogie on, it seems the Animalians are gearing up for their seasonal dance competition. And it's open to Reclaimers! The competition accepts groups of up to three dancers as a dancing unit! With multiple studios and outdoor dance spaces available in the Boardwalk economic hub toward the southeast of the main island, you'll have lots of opportunities to practice your moves before the big day.

If dancing's not your speed, Captain Baxley & The Crew are more than happy to put you to work! There's plenty of ways to keep yourselves occupied around the Boardwalk. Or you could head over to the Roswell Center to learn more about Animalians and medicine. Or have a hike up the Cascades and swim with the wildlife... or explore the outer islands! There are many possibilities open to you! You could even take the time to learn your new paths or simply refresh your memories and test out your abilities.

Curiously enough, there does seem to be another island past a massive and foreboding barrier of thorns... But it doesn't seem like it's possible to get past the thorns head-on, no matter how hard you try. Maybe there's another way...?

Potential Pals, Potential Scares.
Fixed NPCS.

Angus McDonald:

A young detective who joined the Reclaimers after Wonderland. He's a highly skilled and quick-witted young boy, but lately seems enraptured by the ruins on this island. As usual he tries to keep the Reclaimers on track toward reclaiming the relic, but he hasn’t seemed to pinpoint its location just yet himself. Oddly enough, he can't remember how he or the Reclaimers got here, either.

K.V.:

A technomancer Magpie on the island who is renowned and respected despite their unusual affinity for toys and toymaking. They're very good at understanding and repairing the magitech beasts that the islanders train at the Coliseum, but their true passion is making toys, especially automatons that serve little function beyond movement and sound. They appear to be an Australian Magpie and wear brightly colored fabrics. They can also help with Technomancer, Wizard, & Warlock paths.

Niely:

A new friend of Angus's, a bard hoping to one day be a technomancer themself. They're very good at rapping and want to learn to use magitech to create instruments, but often have trouble getting K.V.'s attention away from toys and beasts-- and lately, they can be found more often hanging around Angus at the ruins than anywhere else. They are a little common Sato dog that wears a very treasured hat.

Elder Marinero:

A positively ancient historian, a bat, who, like most elderly, is wise but stubborn! Despite his advanced age, his brain is very sharp and he seems to know anything and everything that's to know about this island. However….. Good luck speaking with him if you can't speak Animalian! He refuses to speak Common in what he justifies as a preservation of his culture and language. If you do manage to get him to open up, he's quite warm, but his late-night schedule and stoic nature often scare younger islanders and tourists off. He can often be found at the cliffs on the south island at night next to the grave of his past husband Marcos, tending to the flora in the area. He can help with druid, cleric, and summoner path actions.

Pilotable NPCS.

Lola:

Bard/Merchant/Astrologian. Essentially the governor of the island in everything but title. This strawberry-brown Holstein seems reserved at first but listens with the ear of Solomon and guides with an unusual grace; the islanders consult her for nearly everything. Lola is even the Presenter for the seasonal Dance Competition. As kind and graceful as she is, she's quite a busy woman -- if you're not entering the competition yourself, she may not be able devote a lot of time for you. She can help you recall any Bard, Merchant, or Astrologian path actions, too.

Professor Jerry

Chemist/Cleric/Sage. A kindly ape archaeologist and teacher at the Roswell Center who is currently studying the Strange Ruins, along with his apprentice Niely, and now with Angus. He hasn't made much progress on understanding the ruins, which seems to be really puzzling him, as he knows almost all of the history on the Gilded Wall and the rest of the island, even down to its villagers. He can be a bit of a gossip… but he'll also give you great tips on which classes to take at Roswell Center and how to impress their respective teachers, if you want to sit in.

Captain Baxley & the Crew

Assorted Paths: An old St. Bernard & his assortment of sealmen, sailing deer, fishing cats, & seadogs. They are the leading fishing team on the island & are very puzzled as to why they can't seem to sail away to the further out fishing spots as of late. You can ask all day, but not a single sailor seems to understand what's up with that barrier out there-- but they're worried it'll cause fish and import shortages! While you're asking, though, they're happy to put you to work doing errands for them or anyone else. You know what they say about idle hands...
You can find someone from any path to help you recall your path actions from the seafolk, and it looks like they're about the only ones you'll see a Vulpish with.

FULL NPC LIST

Fight 'em or Flee.
Hostile Pirates:

No matter how charming or fearsome you are, these particular pirates have no interest in dealing with you -- or anyone -- and will attack anyone on sight! They've isolated themselves to the smallest and furthermost island (the pinky toe), though a few of them may venture out for supplies! They are a lot of them and they are quite nasty, but as long as you don't go into their territory you'll probably be fine.

Mimics:

Oh, hey, you found a treasure chest! It's unlocked, so just pop that baby open, and-- uh oh! Masquerading as chests, these monsters might try to take your hand off the second you put it too close! They're quite formidable opponents, too, resilient and vicious and… teethy. While they mostly attack physically, they are notoriously hard to kill. Mostly found in Foggy Forest but sometimes around the outer islands -- maybe that's why those pirates are in such a bad mood…?

Creatures:

While most of the creatures in the Foggy Forest are relatively harmless, some are not! It seems that some of the Cursed have infiltrated this forest and managed to merge with some of the denizens of the forest, creating some really fearsome and dangerous threats. Much like the Cursed, they behave erratically and are unpredictable and violent in battle. Thankfully, there's not that many of them, but they are still dangerous.

A note from your Navigators.

Keep an eye out for sign-ups for the dance competition, and as well as a sign-up form for something fun and NPC related on the log post itself! The dancing competition will allow for five groups of up to three people, and will require you to come up with a dance team name, style, and more! Feel free to start putting plans together and coming up with sick dancing troupe names.
