Memory Permissions

So! A lot of characters don't have memories. Some are getting them back. It's a wild, hilarious time. :D

This is a post to establish memory loss/regain and how you want to go about it! How much does your character remember? How fast do you want them to recover their memories? Do you have specific plans for their recovery, or are you good to roll with whatever?

This doesn't replace individual planning/conversation for interactions; it's just a nice reference if you want to provide one!

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

Wash remembers everything and is the type of person to try to help everyone else regain their memories (with the notable exception of Ogata). Simba, remember who you are, etc. etc.

Both have all their memories almost as soon as they wake up. Let me know if you'd like either to help yours remember. On the flip side, also let me know if you'd prefer they not in case the thread seems like I'm going that way with it.

Phoenix remembers FUCKING NOTHINGGGG. He's getting bits and pieces back from every interaction - a lot of them just impressions and feelings instead of hard memories, but some big things (like recovering the Chance Lance) have given him back a memory or two.

I wanna take it a little slow with Phoenix for now, regaining his lost memories! The only thing that I'm 100% holding off on are:

- memories of Dahlia (this shouldn't be an issue since the only people who could probably intentionally trigger these are Mia and Maya)
- memories of the end of Thay (holding off on them because Nick Murdered a Dude)

the rest is fair game! Though feel free to clear with me if you are intentionally trying to get Nick to remember something specific so we can play around that.

Ogata remembers nothing and it's going to stay that way for a while! He'll slowly start to remember bits and pieces, but I want him to live without all his more hateful memories for a while so he can learn how to be a good boy...?

THAT SAID if anyone wants to remember stuff about annoying/terrible shit he did... feel free. But just check with me before trying to share them with Ogata.

Papyrus is:
- Beginning with basically nothing
- Starting to recall odd details of what he expects about the world, as well as emotions of loneliness and yearning for importance & recognition
- Slowly remembering bits and pieces of his life underground, as like it's deliberately sculpted to push him to be more ambitious and power-seeking

I don't want anyone directly telling him that Sans his brother just yet... The bros are going to learn that they're brother before they really remember each other, but not right away.

I am down for people to tell Papyrus that they've heard of him, and even that they heard of him through Sans. Papyrus can jump to the conclusion that Sans is a fan of his (which isn't technically wrong) and we can go from there.

Throughout this intro log, Monika is regaining all of her memories. Her getting some memories back might come up in a log, but she's going to be mostly hiding that unless she's called out on it. Mostly she's worried about upsetting someone or reminding them of the shit she pulled before coming to the moon. :')

By the first mission, she'll have all her memories back. But again she won't be announcing it or anything as to try not to drag memories out of other people.

Sans currently does not have any of his memories. He will be regaining them little by little, but right now he's mostly just learning what magic he can do again and embarrassing himself.

There are a few things I do not want anyone to mention to Sans just yet:
-Papyrus's being his brother
-anything your characters know about Sans's Undertale spoilers situation
-how he lost his hand
-Thay

He'll be getting all his memories back eventually!

Right now Rose doesn't have many memories, but she will be regaining her Balance memories before the first mission! My plan for her is to basically alternate between her latest memories and her earliest memories.

You can tell her anything you happen to know about her! Go wild!

She remembers everything! She'll also.... probably help people regain theirs, too, however she can. Let me know if you'd rather stray away from regain territory, or if you'd like her to help! I'm pretty flexible.

Alex's memories are going to be a fucking mess! I'd like him to slowly regain like...the bad memories from home, the bad memories from here, just be a bit of a normal teenager for awhile? Normal with crippling anxiety, but. The things I'd like to avoid for awhile:

- That he died, both here and back home
- ...Any bit of that premonition-should-be-dead backstory that he might've shared with people

I'm gonna pepper things in slowly but like. Throw some past mission stuff at me! I'm very down for that. Lyrabar and Wonderland are the ones I actually did things in and I'd really like Alex to remember some of the like. You know, accomplishments.

Michael is starting with a pretty much completely blank slate! He understands that he is not a human despite all appearances (and suspects maybe he is better than them?) but he does not know what exactly he is. He's also lost his moral compass and carefully-cultivated ability to use empathy! Yay!

Topics I'm avoiding for the moment are mostly just:

- you are inherently evil maybe??? (the fact that he's a demon is fine if it's not attached to that
- his extensive torture history
- that thing only Maya knows about the squid

I'm gonna slowly have him regain random impressions and ideas, but I'm open to people telling him bits about past missions and stuff! He will be getting everything back eventually, but probably only after he has done more crimes.

Shinji here is gonna be a blank slate for a little bit! I'm gonna play reintroducing him to his memories by ear, but there's a few things I'd like to avoid for now:

- Anything to do with October 4th (either of them)
- The fact that he died / had general suicidal tendencies for a couple years prior to his death
- The existence of Castor
- The Thay mission & the death of magic

Balance memories and CR memories other than these are 100% fine, come at me.
